What are the specifications of hoses? An introduction to the classification of hose materials.
Author:
Hoses are important components in modern industry and are used in many places, commonly in bathrooms. Although they are common items, many people do not have much understanding of their specifications and essence. What are the specifications of hoses? What are the main classifications of hose materials? Below is a brief introduction.
Introduction to hose material classifications:
PVC hoses (hygienic plastic hoses, plastic hoses, plastic corrugated hoses, hygienic hoses, imported hoses) were widely used in water supply pipeline systems and gas transmission pipeline systems. However, in recent years, the market share of PVC pipeline systems in the gas transmission field has nearly dropped to zero, and the usage in water supply systems has also slightly declined. Nevertheless, the usage of PVC hoses in non-pressurized pipeline systems such as drainage, sewage, and waste systems has seen steady growth, mainly because the production of PVC raw materials is less dependent on crude oil compared to other thermoplastic plastics, making its production cost relatively low.
Hoses (plastic corrugated hoses, imported hoses) can be designed with solid walls or structural walls, and their connections mainly use solvent bonding methods. Depending on whether plasticizers are used, they can be divided into hard polyvinyl chloride (which has relatively high corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance, but also relatively higher costs).
Although PE pipeline systems do not have cost advantages (the raw material prices are relatively high), they have been rapidly promoted and popularized. This is mainly due to the quick, convenient, and reliable connection method of PE hoses, namely the hot melt connection method. The characteristics of the melting temperature range and melt viscosity of PE hoses (hygienic plastic hoses, plastic hoses, polyethylene hoses, hygienic hoses, imported hoses) determine that PE hoses have good weldability, allowing the strength of PE hot melt connection joints to reach or even exceed the strength of the hose body. Additionally, using PE electric fusion connection fittings can make the repair work of PE pipeline systems simple and easy, thus improving the reliability of the pipelines.
PP hoses (hygienic plastic hoses, plastic hoses, polypropylene hoses, hygienic hoses, imported hoses) have been used in pipeline production since the 1970s. According to the different polymer structures, PP materials can be divided into three categories: PP-H (homopolypropylene), PP-B (block copolypropylene), and PP-R (random copolypropylene).
The PP-R pipeline system is an important part of the hot and cold water pipeline system for buildings. There was once a wave of promoting PP-R plastic pipeline systems in the country, but unfortunately, due to the interference of counterfeit and inferior products and unqualified products, the market for PP-R pipes has not developed well and has instead left a bad impression of "plastic pipelines are not durable," causing many building designers, developers, and users of water supply pipeline systems to lose confidence in plastic pipelines. From a technical perspective, the reasons for the failure of unqualified products are multifaceted. On one hand, unqualified raw materials were used; in the early development of plastic pipelines, practitioners did not have a thorough understanding of the long-term performance and strength of raw materials, nor a deep understanding of the evaluation methods for raw materials. On the other hand, there were issues with the system connections, as the modulus of PP-R pipes is relatively large among plastic hoses, making the joints prone to excess stress, especially at the steel-plastic transition joints, which frequently experience leakage after a period of hot and cold water circulation.
