Home decoration pipe selection tips:

Take a look

Is the model, batch number, standard number, and other information complete? Is the brand logo clear and standardized? Everyone must stay away from counterfeits! In this era that values appearance, selecting pipes is as important as selecting beauty; good pipes not only have uniform wall thickness but also have a pure and even color.

Myth: Is white PP-R pipe better?

In fact, all pipes contain color masterbatch, and white is no exception, but the quality and proportion of the color masterbatch must meet national standards. If a large amount of calcium powder is added during production, white PP-R pipes may appear grayish-white or porcelain white. Many customers find that the hidden pipes in their new homes become powdery and leak due to false welding after 2-3 years. Under standard conditions, the darker the pipe color, the better its opacity, making it less likely to breed bacteria or algae when water flows through. Therefore, translucent white pipes are not recommended for exposed systems.

Touch it

Both the inner and outer surfaces should be smooth and flat, without dents, bubbles, cracks, or other surface defects, to ensure smooth water flow and no accumulation of dirt. If it feels rough to the touch, it may contain other impurities.

Note: Some unscrupulous manufacturers reduce costs by mixing waste materials into the pipes, severely affecting water quality. Pipes mixed with waste materials are generally uneven inside, may have sand holes or bubbles, and during welding, residue may remain on the hot melt machine's welding head.

Measure it

Trade transactions hate short weights and measures; if the length and thickness are not up to standard, can you trust such production processes?

The same series of water pipes has standard specifications, such as the S3.2 pipe series where the wall thickness of dn20 must reach 2.8mm. Some water pipes are thinner, only 2.3mm, while the PP-R water supply pipe on the right has a wall thickness of 2.8mm (0.8mm white outer layer + 2mm green inner layer). Bring a ruler for on-site inspection!

Myth: Is a thicker wall of PP-R pipe better?

Pipes are not necessarily better if they are thicker. The thicker the pipe, the smaller the flow rate. The key is the uniformity of the wall thickness, which is especially important for hot water systems. Consumers should choose according to the system's temperature and pressure.

Pinch it

Why do porters often use bamboo poles? Because bamboo is strong, durable, and long-lasting. Pipes also need to have a certain degree of toughness. Apply some pressure to the pipe to test its rebound ability. High-quality PP-R pipes have good "rebound ability," but even the best PP-R pipes can break if the temperature is below 10 degrees.

Myth: Is harder PP-R pipe better?

High hardness does not equal good elasticity. Some manufacturers increase hardness by adding excessive calcium carbonate and other impurities, making them unbreakable, but they can become brittle over time. Similarly, if a pipe can be easily deformed when pinched, it is also unqualified in terms of hardness.

Smell it

The main material of PP-R pipes is polypropylene, and good pipes have no odor, while inferior PP-R pipes may contain polyethylene, which can produce an unpleasant smell. Therefore, use your sense of smell to distinguish when purchasing pipes. Note:

1) Bring your nose close to the pipe and smell it.

2) Boil a certain amount of pipes in hot water and smell it.

During the welding of pipe construction, high-quality PP-R pipes produce no smoke or odor when burned, and the melted liquid is clean and transparent. Inferior pipes will emit black smoke and produce a pungent smell during combustion.
